About Auditor General of South Africa:

The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) was established in 1911. AGSA audit institution of South Africa, whose role it is to audit and report on the spending of taxpayers’ money by the South African government.

AGSA has partnershiips in the following organisations:

Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA)
South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)
South African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA)
Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA)
International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institution (INTOSAI).

The institution also looks at strategic government objectives, programmes and initiatives. The audit reports contribute to a culture of public sector accountability that makes a difference in the lives of South African citizens. We also strive to being a responsible corporate citizen of South Africa. To do this, certain  commitments such as:

About the bursary and fields covered:

These bursaries are to students currently studying or intending on studying towards a Chartered Accountant qualification, including the following qualifications:

BCom Accounting (CA stream)
Bachelor of Accounting (CA stream)
BCompt

The bursary will cover the : tuition, prescribed textbooks, meals and accommodation at university(not private accommodation ).

Bursary recipients will be required to partake in training with AGSA once they have finished the course.
Minimum  requirements :

Matric students (applying for 1st year):

South African citizen
Currently in grade 12
Achieve a result of 60% for English
Achieve a result of 60% for Mathematics
Must pass Matric with a university entrance results
Be accepted to study at an accredited University(SAICA)
Intend to study Chartered Accountancy qualification (listed above)

1st year students (applying for 2nd year):

South African citizen
Be a full-time study towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification (as listed above)
Studying at a SAICA-accredited Institution
Achieve a result of 60% for Financial Accounting
Achieved a result of 60% for English
Achieved a minimum result of 60% for Mathematics

2nd year students (applying for 3rd year):

Be a South African citizen
Study towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification (as listed above)
Studying at a SAICA-accredited Institution
Achieve a result of 60% for Financial Accounting
Achieve a result of 60% for Management Accounting

Final year students (applying for postgraduate studies):

South African citizen
In final second year study towards a requested qualification (listed above)
Achieve a result of 55% or above for all core modules
Accepted into the CTA program

All candidates must also meet the following requirements:

Be fluent in English
Strong communication skills
Must display strong leadership potential
Strongly determined, driven and committed to succeed
